6 March 2023 (Chongqing, China) – On March 8, International Women's Day, Hotel Niccolo Chongqing held its first speaking event of 2023, with the theme "Create a Diverse & Inclusive Workplace" focusing on women in the workplace and facilitating a wonderful journey of sharing. The event was jointly organized with the SheLeads Professional Women's Development Alliance and presented three outstanding female representatives from different industries: Ms. Samantha Tam, Deputy Consul General & Senior Trade Commissioner, Consulate General of Canada in Chongqing; Ms. Rita Deng, Luxury Brand Area Manager; and Ms. Jo Jiang, Director of Rooms, Niccolo Chongqing. As guest speakers, they shared vivid personal experiences with plenty of confidence and personal charm to provoke event attendees to think, discuss, and to appreciate the outstanding contributions of women in the workplace.
Each of the three distinguished guests shared their career journeys, experience in dealing with challenges and valuable advice, as well as discussions on how women can balance work with life, and how to progress and achieve together. In this session, MS. SAMANTHA TAM explained how as a leader who embraces a culture of equality and diversity, she creates space for her team members – especially women – to realize their potential. Through her own experience and interesting stories, MS. RITA DENG shared how women gradually find their interests and gain leadership through three stages. Lastly, MS. JO JIANG took the example of the hospitality industry, in which she has been working for many years. She analyzed the differences between males and females across the six dimensions of leadership skills, and the positive impact that having a higher proportion of female executives can have on both a company and a team, and in encouraging others to look forward to a more diverse workplace in the future.
In the roundtable session, the three guests shared their insights and experiences with diversity and inclusiveness in the context of their own professional environments, thereby contributing valuable viewpoints to women working in different industries.
