A CONSERVING CENTRAL HERITAGE BUILDING
Re-purposing of the building was done in conjunction with the government as part of the "Conserving Central" initiative. This former government building, transformed by Foster + Partners in a USD$1 billion renovation, was unveiled in December 2017. Its iconic 45-degree angled windows and four-story arches, part of a pioneering 1969 design, provide panoramic views while efficiently blocking the tropical sun. THE 100-YEAR-OLD VALUABLE TREE The Murray is home to Hong Kong's only registered Old and Valuable Tree of its species, a century-old Cassia javanica var. Indochinese. Carefully preserved by a dedicated arborist, it blooms into a "Pink and White Shower" each spring. In tribute, the hotel offers nature-inspired experiences and is planting its offspring for the future.
